UNLV’s engineering student and faculty team won eighth place at the DARPA Robotics Challenge Finals (DRC) with their robot, Metal Rebel. The DRC was designed to challenge participating robotics teams and their robots to complete tasks relevant to disaster response. UNLV competed against such heavyweights as Carnegie Mellon, MIT, Virginia Tech, and Lockheed Martin.

Howard R. Hughes College of Engineering

UNLV’s Solar Decathlon team won second place overall in the global competition at the prestigious U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon. The interdisciplinary student team designed, built, and operated a sustainable solar-powered house that was cost-effective, energy-efficient, and attractive. The house is now on display at the Las Vegas Springs Preserve.
College of Education

School of Community Health Sciences
Dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of people worldwide, students and faculty at the School of Community Health Sciences eliminate health disparities, prevent disease and injury, and improve the quality of health care facilities and programs. Our interdisciplinary field combines many practices including social and behavioral health, health care administration, environmental health, microbiology, epidemiology, and biostatistics. For over 50 years, the School of Nursing has been educating nurses, improving patient care, and helping Nevadans lead healthier lives. There is a need for safe, resilient communities, effective government and policy, civil discourse, ethical journalism, healthy families, and urban support structures for behavioral and/or mental health needs. William S. Boyd School of Law
At the William S. Boyd School of Law, we are educating ethical and effective lawyers and leaders. From the very beginning, our students are exposed to real-world challenges, professional interactions, and public clinics. For our students, community service is an integral part of their education and experience. The Boyd School of Law offers more gaming courses to juris doctor students than any other law school in the country. In addition, UNLV was the first place in the nation to offer the Master of Laws degree in Gaming Law and Regulation.
