Thomas & Mack Center
The Thomas & Mack Center may look new with its improved seats and a luxury lounge, but it still feels like home for the Runnin’ Rebels. The facility, along with the adjacent Cox Pavilion and Mendenhall Center, is also the summer home to USA Basketball and the NBA Summer League. The arena is far more than just a basketball venue. It also hosts notable entertainers and various special events, including the 2016 Final Presidential Debate.
UNLV’s official mascot, Hey Reb!, represents the Rebel spirit that people have come to know and love. This independent mountain man, with his iconic mustache, has been delighting Rebel fans since the 1980s. You can find him generating school spirit at our athletic and student events.
The Rebellion, the student section of the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels home games, creates that amazing game-day atmosphere and has been nationally recognized as one of the most innovative student sections in college basketball.
The Fremont Cannon is the fifth most expensive rivalry trophy in college football. Each year, UNLV battles our state rival, the University of Nevada, Reno, for the right to paint the cannon Scarlet and Gray.
Premier UNLV is one of our longest-standing traditions. The event officially welcomes new and returning students to campus at the beginning of every academic year. This cherished tradition includes free commemorative t-shirts, spirit activities, special guest performances, and — the highlight of the evening — students gathering with lights to form the letters U-N-L-V while fireworks light up the scene. Our students broke the Guinness World Record for the most LED lights lit simultaneously at the 2016 event.
Homecoming week is an exciting time on campus as we celebrate UNLV’s history with special student and alumni activities, concerts, and performances. The week-long celebration honors our history and includes traditional events like the Most Spirited Rebel Competition, window painting, the Rebel Variety Show, and the alumni dinner.
